Setting up the Azden CM-20D wireless microphone is a straightforward process. Here are the steps to get you started:
1. Power on the receiver: Locate the power switch on the front panel of the receiver and turn it on. The power LED should light up to indicate that the receiver is powered on.
2. Connect the receiver to your recording device: Use the provided audio cable to connect the output jack on the receiver to the audio input of your recording device. If you're using a DSLR camera, connect the cable to the camera's microphone input. If you're using a smartphone, you may need an adapter to connect the cable to the headphone jack or USB-C port.
3. Insert batteries into the microphone: Open the battery compartment on the microphone and insert two "AA" batteries. Make sure to observe the correct polarity as indicated by the sticker inside the compartment.
4. Power on the microphone: Slide the power switch on the microphone to the "ON" position. The power LED on the microphone should light up, indicating that it is powered on.
5. Set the frequency channel: The Azden CM-20D has two preset frequency channels. Use a ballpoint pen or similar tool to slide the frequency selection switch on the microphone to the desired channel. If you're using multiple CM-20D microphones in the same location, make sure each microphone is set to a different channel to avoid interference.
6. Adjust microphone gain: Inside the battery compartment of the microphone, you'll find a small xxxx for adjusting the microphone gain. Use a tiny Philips screwdriver to turn the xxxx clockwise for more gain or counterclockwise for less gain. Adjust the gain while speaking into the microphone to achieve the desired volume level.
7. Test the microphone: With the receiver and microphone powered on and properly connected, perform a test recording to ensure that the microphone is capturing audio correctly. Adjust the volume levels on your recording device as needed.
