To install the Proficient Protege IWS85 Passive Inwall Sub in your wall, follow these steps:
1. Cutting the Drywall:
- Use a stud finder to locate the studs in the wall.
- Find the center between the studs by drilling a small hole and feeling for both studs with a bent wire.
- Once the center is determined, use the cut-out template provided with the IWS85 to mark and cut out the hole in the drywall.
- If the wall is not already insulated, add insulation material to loosely cover the back of the subwoofer. Ensure that any insulation material with foil or paper is positioned away from the subwoofer.
2. Wiring:
- Connect the speaker wire to the IWS85, making sure to connect the positive wire to the terminal marked (+) and the negative wire to the terminal marked (-).
- Connect the other end of the wire to your amplifier's inputs marked "SUBWOOFER OUT". Ensure that the amplifier is unplugged when connecting any wires or cables.
3. Mounting the IWS85:
- Place the subwoofer into the drywall cut-out and position it.
- As you tighten the screws, the mounting feet will turn and clamp the subwoofer to the drywall. Be careful not to overtighten the screws to avoid warping the baffle or breaking off the mounting feet.
- Once the subwoofer is in place, reattach the grille onto the baffle. The grille is designed to attach tightly.
Please note that while the above steps provide a general overview of the installation process, it is always recommended to consult the owner's manual for detailed instructions and to ensure optimal performance and safety.
