To install the JBL Professional CONTROL 227C Coaxial Ceiling Loudspeaker, follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Cut the Hole: Use the provided cardboard cutout template to trace the cutout hole onto your ceiling surface. The cutout size diameter for the Control 227C is 12.1 inches (307 mm). Cut out the hole using a circular cutter set to the specified cutout size.
2. Insert Backing Hardware Through the Hole: The package includes two types of backing hardware - a C-shaped backing plate bracket and two tile rails. For suspended ceilings, insert the C-plate through the hole cut in the ceiling tile. Place the C-plate around the hole with the tabs located as shown in the manual. Insert the tile rails through the cut hole in the ceiling tile and snap them into the tabs in the C-plate. Align the rails so that the ends extend over the T-channel grid on the side of the tile. Secure the rails onto the C-bracket tabs by inserting a xxxx through each tab into the rail.
3. Wiring: Connect the wiring to the removable locking connector that is included with the speaker. Strip the insulation back about 5 mm (about 3/16 inch) and insert the bare end of the wire into the connector. xxxx down the hold-down xxxx until tight using a small flat blade screwdriver. Use proper electrical wiring practices in accordance with your area's building codes and regulations.
4. Insert the Speaker: Insert the Control 227C speaker into the hole, making sure it is securely held in place by the mounting ears that lock into place.
5. Secure the Baffle and Driver: Align the mounting holes without weld nuts on the baffle and driver with the holes with clip nuts on the back can. Use four #10 x 0.5 in (12mm) sheet metal screws to attach the baffle/driver to the back can. Be sure to match the mounting holes without weld nuts to the clip nuts on the back can.
6. Attach the Grille: Use four M4 x 38mm powder-coated machine screws to attach the metal grille to the baffle. Match the grille mounting holes to the weld nuts on the baffle assembly.
7. Optional Pre-Installation Brackets: If necessary, you can use optional pre-installation brackets for specific installation needs. The JBL Professional CONTROL 227C Coaxial Ceiling Loudspeaker is designed for pre-install applications using the optional MTC-200BB6 backcan and MTC-RG6/8 grille (sold separately).
Please note that it is important to follow proper suspension and rigging practices in accordance with your area's building codes and regulations when installing the back cans into a ceiling or building structure.
