To set up the MXL Genesis HE microphone, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the dedicated power supply included in the package is correctly set for your local voltage (115 volts or 230 volts AC).
2. Connect the included seven-pin cable from the microphone to the power supply. Make sure the power supply is switched off when plugging and unplugging the cable to avoid damaging the microphone and power supply.
3. Connect the power supply to a power outlet.
4. Attach the shock mount to a microphone stand or boom arm.
5. Place the MXL Genesis HE microphone onto the shock mount, ensuring it is securely attached.
6. Optionally, attach the included pop filter to the microphone stand or boom arm, positioning it 3-4 inches in front of the microphone to reduce plosive sounds during vocal recordings.
7. Position the microphone according to your recording needs, taking into consideration the recommended distances and angles mentioned in the user guide for different instruments or vocals.
8. Connect the microphone to an audio interface or recording device using an XLR cable.
9. Set the desired polar pattern, bass roll-off, and pad settings using the switches on the microphone.
10. Power on the dedicated power supply and ensure that the microphone is receiving power.
11. Adjust the input levels on your audio interface or recording device to achieve the desired recording levels.
