Installing the Midea MDF18A1ABB Digital Display Dishwasher requires basic mechanical and electrical skills. Here are the general steps to follow:
1. Read the installation instructions and safety precautions in the manual before starting the installation process.
2. Ensure that you have all the necessary tools and parts required for installation. These include installation brackets, screws, condensation strip, adjustment caps, cable tie for drain hose, adjustable template, twist-on wire connectors, strain relief, tape, hot water supply line, 90° elbow, tube fittings, air gap, rubber connector, hose clamp, power cable (if not able to hard wire), and PTFE thread seal tape or sealing compound.
3. Measure the dimensions of the dishwasher and the enclosure to ensure a proper fit. The enclosure must be at least 17.7 inches wide, 23 inches deep, and 32.5 inches high. The countertop must be at least 23 inches deep to fit with the dishwasher's front door.
4. Prepare the hot water line connection by adjusting the water heater temperature to deliver water between 120°F (49°C)–135°F (57.2°C). Turn off the water supply valve and seal the hot water supply line connections using Teflon tape or sealing compound.
5. Prepare the electrical line connection by following local electrical codes and ordinances. Use flexible armored or non-metallic sheathed copper wire with a grounding wire that meets the wiring requirements. Connect the wires using twist-on wire connectors and ensure that the dishwasher is completely enclosed at the time of installation.
6. Unpack and inspect the dishwasher for any damage or missing parts. Check the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical components to ensure they are intact and secure.
7. Prepare the dishwasher by checking the water hose, removing the junction box cover, connecting the 90° elbow joint to the inlet valve, securing the dishwasher to the countertop or cabinet side walls, adjusting the leveling legs, and positioning the power cable in the center channel of the dishwasher base.
8. Connect the drain hose to the sink's drain connector, ensuring a secure connection with a hose clamp. If a longer drain hose is required, use a coupler and secure the connection with hose clamps.
9. Connect the power cable to the dishwasher's junction box, following the color-coded wires and using wire nuts to secure the connections. Replace the junction box cover.
10. Level the dishwasher by adjusting the front and rear legs. Secure the dishwasher to the countertop or cabinet side walls using screws and brackets.
11. Complete the installation by removing any foam or packaging materials, turning on the circuit breaker, opening the water supply valve, and running a test cycle. Install the kickplate and adjustable toe plate.
