To install the software for the Canon LiDE100 Color Image Scanner, please follow these steps:
1. Before connecting the scanner to your computer, make sure to not connect it yet. If the "Found New Hardware" screen appears, cancel it by unplugging the USB cable from the computer.
2. Quit all running applications before starting the installation.
3. If you are upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista, uninstall the software bundled with the Canon scanner before proceeding.
4. Log in as an administrator on your computer to install the software.
5. Do not switch users during the installation process.
6. Place the Setup CD-ROM in the drive.
7. For Macintosh users, double-click the "Setup" icon and enter the administrator ID and password on the authentication dialog box. For Windows 2000/XP and Macintosh, skip step 2 and go to step 3.
8. For Windows Vista users, when the AutoPlay dialog box appears, run the setup program and click "Continue" when the User Account Control dialog box appears.
9. If prompted, select your language and place of residence. Note that in some countries, these dialog boxes may not appear.
10. On the main menu, click "Easy Install."
11. Click "Install" to start the installation. Carefully read the License Agreement and click "Yes" to proceed.
12. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. When the User Registration screen appears, follow the instructions for product support. For Macintosh users, skip step 7 and go to step 8.
13. For Windows users, when the Extended Survey Program screen appears, confirm it. If you agree, click "Agree."
14. After the installation is complete, click "Restart" to restart your computer.
15. For Windows users, after restarting the computer, the Solution Menu will appear.
16. For Macintosh users, after restarting the computer, the "Solution Menu" icon will be registered in the Dock.
