To install the Plustek OpticSlim 2610 Flatbed Scanner, please follow these steps:
1. Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements listed in the user's guide. These include having a PC with an Intel Pentium II 233 MHz processor or compatible, 256 MB RAM, an available USB port, a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, 1 GB of free hard disk space, and a video card that supports 16-bit color or greater. The scanner is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10 operating systems.
2. Check the box contents to ensure that you have all the necessary components, including the scanner, USB cable, Quick Guide, and Setup/Application CD-ROM.
3. Connect the scanner to your computer by plugging the square end of the USB cable into the USB port on the scanner and the rectangular end into an available USB port on the back of your computer. If you are using a USB hub, connect the hub to the USB port on your computer and then connect the scanner to the hub.
4. Insert the Setup/Application CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
5. If you are using Windows XP, the Add New Hardware Wizard will automatically launch. Select "Install the software automatically (recommended)" and click Next. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
6. If you are using Windows Vista or later, the "Found New Hardware" window will appear. Select "Locate and install driver software (recommended)" and click Continue. When prompted to insert the disc that came with your USB Scanner, insert the Setup/Application CD-ROM and click Next. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
7. After the installation is complete, close all open applications and restart your computer.
8. To test the scanner, open the scanner's document cover and place a document on the scanner glass. Close the document cover. Double-click the DocAction icon in the Windows system tray or right-click the icon and choose "Button Configuration..." to configure the scanner's button settings. Press the Custom button on the scanner to start scanning. The scanned image will be saved in the default saving folder.
If you encounter any issues during the installation process, refer to the troubleshooting section in the user's guide or contact Plustek customer support for assistance.
