To install the software for the Canon LiDE 600F CanoScan Scanner, follow these steps:
1. Do NOT connect the scanner to your computer before installing the software. If the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, click [Cancel].
2. Quit all running applications, including anti-virus software.
3. For Windows 2000/XP, log in as an administrator to install the software.
4. Place the CanoScan Setup Utility CD-ROM in the drive. If prompted, select your language and place of residence. The CanoScan Setup Utility program will start.
5. For Macintosh: Double-click the [Setup] icon and enter the administrator ID and password on the authentication dialog box.
6. Click [Easy Install] on the main menu.
7. Click [Install] to start the installation. Carefully read the License Agreement, and then click [Yes] to proceed. All the software programs and on-screen manuals will be installed on your computer.
8. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the bundled applications.
9. When the installation is complete, click [Restart] to restart your computer.
10. Remove the CD-ROM from the drive and store it in a safe place.
If you encounter any problems during installation, refer to the "Troubleshooting" section in the Scanning Guide. If you later upgrade your operating system to Windows XP, you will need to reinstall the software.
