To change the decimal place setting on the Sharp EL-1611V Electronic Printing Calculator, follow these steps:
1. Press the MEMORY-KEY / DECIMAL SELECTION KEY.
2. The current decimal place setting will be displayed on the screen. It will show either "F" for floating decimal mode or "3, 2, 1, 0" for preset decimal mode.
3. If you want to change to floating decimal mode, simply press the DEC key again. The display will show "F" to indicate the change.
4. If you want to change to preset decimal mode, press the DEC key repeatedly until the desired number of decimal places is displayed. The options are "3, 2, 1, 0" for 3, 2, 1, or 0 decimal places, respectively.
5. Once you have selected the desired decimal place setting, you can start performing calculations with the new setting.
Note: In addition to the decimal place setting, there is also an "Add mode" that automatically positions the decimal point in addition and subtraction entries. If you want to use the add mode, press the DEC key until "A" is displayed. However, using the decimal point (.) or other arithmetic functions like multiplication (x) and division (÷) will override the add mode and provide decimally correct answers.
