To test a capacitor using the Supco MFD10 Digital Capacitor Tester, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the capacitor from all power sources to ensure your safety during the testing process.
2. Discharge the capacitor. This step is crucial to prevent any potential electrical shock. Failure to discharge the capacitor can also cause the protective fuse to open. You can discharge the capacitor by using a resistor or a specialized discharge tool.
3. Attach the clip leads of the Supco MFD10 tester to the terminals of the capacitor. It is important to ensure good contact between the leads and the capacitor terminals for accurate readings.
4. Set the scale switch on the tester to the expected capacitor value range. If the capacitor's value is between 0.01 MFD and 10 MFD, set the scale switch to 10 MFD. For values over 10 MFD, set the scale switch to 10,000 MFD.
5. Press the activator button on the tester. The exact capacitor value will be displayed on the LED readout of the tester.
