To adjust the squelch on the Uniden Bearcat 980SSB CB Radio, follow these steps:
1. Turn on the radio and make sure it is in CB mode.
2. Locate the squelch control xxxx on the front panel of the radio. It is labeled "SQ" or "Squelch."
3. Turn the squelch control xxxx clockwise to increase the squelch level. This will reduce the amount of background noise and interference you hear.
4. If you turn the squelch control xxxx too far clockwise, you may not hear any transmissions. In this case, turn the xxxx counterclockwise slightly to find the optimal squelch level.
5. Test the squelch level by listening for any remaining static or interference. Adjust the squelch control xxxx as needed until you achieve clear and noise-free communication.
