To perform metric conversions using the calculator, follow these steps:
1. Set the conversion rate: Before performing a metric conversion, you need to set the conversion rate. The initial conversion rate is "0". You can set a conversion rate using up to 10 digits (excluding the decimal point).
2. Choose the conversion mode: The calculator offers 44 different metric conversion modes. Use the colored conversion keys provided on the calculator to select the desired conversion mode.
3. Enter the value to be converted: Input the value you want to convert using the calculator's keypad.
4. Perform the conversion: Once you have entered the value, the calculator will automatically convert it based on the set conversion rate. The result will be displayed on the LCD screen.
5. Repeat for additional conversions: If you need to perform multiple conversions, repeat steps 2-4 for each conversion.
Note: The Sharp ELSI MATE El344R Metric Conversion Wallet Calculator also supports fraction conversions. If the result of a conversion is a decimal number, you can press the "=" button to convert it into an approximate fraction. The fraction will be displayed as n/32 and can be further reduced to n/16, n/8, n/4, or n/2 if possible.
