To install the ELECTECK Outdoor Weatherproof GFI Receptacle, please follow the steps below:
1. Power Off: Before starting the installation, turn off the power supply to the installation area. This can be done by switching off the circuit breaker that controls the electrical circuit.
2. Remove Old Receptacle: If you are replacing an existing receptacle, carefully remove it by unscrewing the mounting screws and disconnecting the wires. Take note of the wire connections for reference during the installation of the new receptacle.
3. Install ELECTECK GFI Receptacle: Connect the wires to the appropriate terminals on the ELECTECK GFI Receptacle according to the provided installation manual. Typically, the black (hot) wire connects to the brass-colored terminal, the white (neutral) wire connects to the silver-colored terminal, and the green or bare copper (ground) wire connects to the green-colored terminal. Use wire connectors or terminal screws to secure the connections.
4. Attach Wall Plate: Once the wires are connected, attach the included wall plate to the receptacle by aligning the xxxx holes and using the provided mounting screws. Ensure the wall plate is securely fastened.
5. Power On: After completing the installation, turn on the power supply by switching on the circuit breaker.
6. Test GFI: To ensure the proper functionality of the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFI), press the "Test" button on the receptacle. This should cause the GFI to trip and disconnect power. Press the "Reset" button to restore power. If the GFI does not trip or reset properly, consult the troubleshooting section of the user manual or contact the manufacturer for assistance.
7. Use as Standard Outlet: The ELECTECK GFI Receptacle can now be used as a standard power outlet. Plug in your electrical devices and ensure they are functioning correctly.
Note: It is important to follow all safety precautions mentioned in the user manual and adhere to local electrical codes during the installation process. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with electrical work, it is recommended to hire a qualified electrician for the installation.
