To install the Leviton GUSB1-W Smart Lock Wall Charger Outlet, follow these steps:
1. Before starting the installation, make sure to turn off the power to the electrical box by switching off the corresponding breaker or removing the fuse.
2. Identify the cables/wires in the electrical box. If there is only one cable (2-3 wires), it is the LINE cable. If there are two cables (4-6 wires), follow the procedure for two cables.
3. For one cable (2-3 wires) entering the box:
- Connect the white wire from the LINE cable to the WHITE terminal (Silver) on the GFCI.
- Connect the black wire from the LINE cable to the HOT terminal (Brass or Black) on the GFCI.
- If there is a grounding wire, connect it to the grounding terminal on the GFCI. If there is no grounding terminal, connect the bare copper or green wire directly to the grounding terminal on the GFCI.
4. For two cables (4-6 wires) entering the box:
- Connect the white wire from the LINE cable to the WHITE terminal (Silver) on the GFCI.
- Connect the black wire from the LINE cable to the HOT terminal (Brass or Black) on the GFCI.
- Remove the yellow sticker to reveal the LOAD terminals.
- Connect the white wire from the LOAD cable to the WHITE terminal (Silver) on the GFCI.
- Connect the black wire from the LOAD cable to the HOT terminal (Brass or Black) on the GFCI.
- If there is a grounding wire, connect it to the grounding terminal on the GFCI. If there is a grounding terminal in the box, connect a similar wire to the grounding terminal on the box.
5. Fold the wires into the box, keeping the grounding wire away from the WHITE and HOT terminals. xxxx the receptacle to the box and attach the faceplate.
6. Turn the power back on at the service panel.
7. Test your work:
- Plug a lamp or radio into the GFCI and leave it plugged in.
- Press the TEST button on the GFCI. The lamp or radio should turn off.
- Press the RESET button on the GFCI. The lamp or radio should turn on.
- If the GFCI does not reset or the lamp/radio does not turn on, refer to the troubleshooting section in the user manual.
It is important to note that this is a general guide, and it is recommended to refer to the Leviton GUSB1-W Smart Lock Wall Charger Outlet User Manual for specific instructions and diagrams.
