To install the Leviton T5325-SW Tamper Resistant Receptacle, please follow these steps:
1. Before starting the installation, ensure that the power is turned off at the circuit breaker or fuse panel. Test that the power is off before proceeding.
2. Remove the insulation from the wires according to the strip gauge on the device (approximately 5/8" or 1.6 cm).
3. Connect the wires to the receptacle as per the wiring diagram provided. Loop the wires clockwise around the terminal screws. The black (hot) wire should be connected to the brass xxxx , the white (neutral) wire to the silver xxxx , and the green or bare (ground) wire to the green xxxx . Tighten the terminal screws to 14-18 in-Ibs.
4. If using the Quickwire feature, insert straight #14 AWG solid copper or copper clad wires into the round Quickwire holes. Note that Quickwire terminals accept #14 AWG solid copper or copper clad wires only. For circuits with #12 AWG wires, use side wiring devices instead.
5. Once the wires are connected, firmly tighten the screws over the wire loops. The terminal screws can accept up to #12 AWG copper or copper clad wire.
6. If you need to replace or rewire the receptacle after using Quickwire, gently press the tip of a small screwdriver into the release slot and gradually back the wire out.
7. Mount the device using the provided long mounting screws. Attach the wallplate (not included).
8. After ensuring that all connections are secure, restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse panel. The installation is now complete.
Please note that if you are unsure about any part of these instructions, it is recommended to consult an electrician for assistance.
