To clean the Farberware FCP280 Stainless Steel Electric Percolator, follow these steps:
1. Always make sure the plug is removed from the wall outlet and let the percolator cool before cleaning.
2. Carefully remove the coffee basket, spreader, and pump tube. These parts may still be warm, so handle them with caution.
3. Wash the percolator with water and detergent. Do not immerse the base of the percolator in water.
4. The cover, basket, spreader, and pump tube (with spring) can be placed in the dishwasher for cleaning.
5. Rinse all parts thoroughly and dry them before storing. Make sure the washer at the bottom of the pump tube remains loose.
6. If there are coffee grounds lodged in the pump tube area, remove them by running water over it or using a wooden pick.
7. After repeated use, you may need to remove oil and coffee stains that can cause a bitter taste. Use a food and beverage stain remover available at grocery and hardware stores.
