To connect the MOTOPOWER MP69033 OBD2 Scanner Code Reader to your vehicle, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the ignition of your vehicle.
2. Locate the vehicle's 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). It is usually located 12 inches from the center of the instrument panel (dash), under or around the driver's side for most vehicles. If you can't find it, refer to your vehicle's service manual for the location.
3. Connect the Code Reader's cable connector to the vehicle's DLC. The cable connector is keyed and will only fit one way. If you have trouble connecting it, rotate the connector 180° and try again.
4. Once the Code Reader's test connector is properly connected to the vehicle's DLC, the screen will turn on to confirm a good power connection.
5. Turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine.
6. The Code Reader will automatically link to the vehicle's computer. After 4-5 seconds, it will retrieve and display any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) that are stored in the vehicle's computer memory.
7. If the LCD display is blank, it indicates there is no power at the vehicle's DLC. Check your fuse panel and replace any burned-out fuses. If replacing the fuse(s) does not solve the problem, refer to your vehicle's repair manual for further troubleshooting.
8. Read and interpret the Diagnostic Trouble Codes using the LCD display. The Code Reader will display a code only if there are codes present in the vehicle's computer memory. If no codes are present, a "0s" will be displayed.
9. Visit the manufacturer's website for Fault Code Definitions. Match the retrieved DTC(s) with those listed. Read the associated definition(s), and refer to the vehicle's service manual for further evaluation.
Note: Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for detailed testing instructions and safety precautions.
