Cleaning the Cuisinart EM-25 Espresso Machine is essential for maintaining its performance and prolonging its lifespan. Here are the instructions for cleaning the machine:
1. Cleaning the Used-Capsule Container: The container holds approximately 12 capsules and some residual liquid after brewing. After 12 brew cycles, the machine will alert you to empty the bin. Dispose of used capsules, replace the bin, and wash it with warm, soapy water.
2. Cleaning External Parts: It is recommended to regularly clean the external components of the espresso maker. You can clean the housing with a soapy, damp, nonabrasive cloth. Do not immerse the machine in water or other liquids.
3. Cleaning the Drip Tray: To remove the drip tray, lift it up off the unit, keeping it level to prevent spills. Clean the drip tray with a soapy, damp, nonabrasive cloth. Do not use cleansers, steel wool pads, or abrasive materials.
4. Cleaning the Water Reservoir: Wash the water reservoir with warm, soapy water. Discoloration, spotting, or staining may occur over time due to the mineral content of the water used. Regularly clean the water reservoir to minimize buildup.
5. Cleaning the Milk Tank/Frother: Remove the milk tank by holding the tank and cover and pulling them away from the machine. Remove the cover, rinse out the tank, and pour water into it. Replace the cover, align the milk tank to the connector on the side of the machine, and push to install. Place a cup on the drip tray, press the MENU button, select the STEAM option, and press GO to start steaming. Press STOP when your preferred amount of milk is achieved.
6. Descaling: Depending on the mineral content of the water in your area, calcium deposits or scale may build up in your machine. Descaling is recommended once a month. Fill the water tank with a descaling solution or a mixture of water and vinegar. Run the solution through the machine by pressing the brew button. Repeat the process with clean water to rinse the machine.
