To set up the VTech CS6649 Corded/Cordless Phone System, please follow these steps:
1. Connect the base unit: Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE port on the back of the base unit, and the other end into a telephone wall jack. Plug the AC power adapter into the DC IN 6V port on the back of the base unit, and then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
2. Charge the cordless handset: Place the cordless handset on the base unit or the charger, and allow it to charge for at least 16 hours before first use. The battery icon on the handset's display will indicate the charging progress.
3. Set the date and time: Press the MENU button on the cordless handset, then use the navigation keys to select "Settings" and press SELECT. Select "Date & Time" and press SELECT. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the date and time.
4. Register the cordless handset (if necessary): If you have additional cordless handsets to register, press the MENU button on the base unit, then use the navigation keys to select "Settings" and press SELECT. Select "Handset" and press SELECT. Follow the on-screen prompts to register the additional handsets.
5. Record your outgoing message: Press the MENU button on the base unit, then use the navigation keys to select "Answering System" and press SELECT. Select "Outgoing Message" and press SELECT. Follow the on-screen prompts to record your outgoing message.
6. Test the phone: Make a test call to ensure that the phone system is working properly. Dial a phone number and check if you can hear a dial tone and have a conversation.
