Sure! Here are the step-by-step instructions for installing the Newhouse CHM1 Mechanical Door Chime:
1. Verify the power rating: Make sure you have a 16 Volt AC, 10 Watt or a 16 Volt AC, 15 Watt transformer to supply power to the chime.
2. Remove the cover from the existing chime: Take off the cover of your current door chime.
3. Label the wires: Before disconnecting any wires, use masking tape to mark each wire according to the existing chime terminal markings. Label the wires as follows: "F" for the Front Push Button Wire, "T" for the Transformer Wire, and "R" for the Rear Push Button Wire (if applicable).
4. Disconnect the wires: Disconnect all wires from the existing chime.
5. Remove the existing chime base: Take out the existing chime base from the wall.
6. Determine chime base orientation: Depending on the chime cover style, determine the proper orientation for the chime base.
7. Determine cover mounting type: If your chime cover has hang pin and hole type mounting, install the hang pin before mounting the base. Snap the hang pin into a mounting hole or slide it onto the chime base. Refer to the illustrations in the manual for guidance.
8. Route wires through the wire entrance hole: Pass the wires through the wire entrance hole in the new chime base.
9. Mount the chime base: Use the screws provided to mount the chime base securely to the wall.
10. Connect the wires: Connect wire "F" to the xxxx terminal marked "FRONT", wire "T" to the xxxx terminal marked "TRANS", and wire "R" to the xxxx terminal marked "REAR" (if applicable). Refer to Figure 2 in the manual for visual reference.
11. Install the chime cover: Place the chime cover securely over the base. Follow the instructions in the manual based on the type of cover you have (hang pin and hole covers, snap-on covers, or hang bracket covers).
That's it! Your Newhouse CHM1 Mechanical Door Chime should now be installed and ready to use. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please consult the user manual for more details.
