To connect your Cox CGM4981 Panoramic Wifi Gateway Fiber to the internet, follow these steps:
1. Locate the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) that Cox has already installed at your residence. It is usually mounted to an inside wall or inside a smart panel. If your ONT is on a garage or outside wall, refer to the FAQs panel on the back of the manual for specific instructions.
2. Check the ONT to ensure that the POWER light is solid green. Next, verify that the PON or BROADBAND light is also solid green. If the lights are not solid green, contact Cox customer support at 1-888-556-1193 for assistance.
3. If there is already an Ethernet cable connected to the ONT, connect it to the bottom right Ethernet port on the Gateway. Make sure it's the port with the orange line. If there is no visible Ethernet cable, remove the ONT's faceplate and plug the Ethernet cable into the ONT's Ethernet port. Connect the other end of the cable to the Gateway's bottom right Ethernet port with the orange line. Then reattach the faceplate.
4. Plug the power cord into the Gateway and a wall outlet. This will power on the Gateway. Wait for approximately 10 minutes for it to fully boot up.
5. Open the wifi settings on your smartphone or computer and connect to the network using the network name (SSID) and password provided on the label located on the bottom of the Gateway. Once connected, verify that your internet is working by surfing the web. For easier management and security, it is recommended to personalize your network information using the Cox Panoramic Wifi app.
If you encounter any issues or have further questions, you can reach out to Cox for support through various channels such as the Cox app, Cox website, live chat, or phone support. The contact details are provided in the manual.
