To enable the adaptive mode on the Sound+Sleep SE, follow these steps:
1. Locate the Adaptive Button on the unit. It is labeled with the word "Adaptive" and has a light next to it.
2. Press the Adaptive Button to switch between Adaptive Mode On and Off. The light next to the Adaptive Button will be lit when Adaptive Mode is On.
3. In Adaptive Mode, the Sound+Sleep SE uses its built-in microphone to listen for disruptive noises in your room.
4. When the unit detects noise, it will automatically adjust the volume and/or add enhancing sounds to the SoundStory to mask the disruptive noises.
5. If you prefer a quiet, steady sound and do not want the adaptive feature, you can keep Adaptive Mode Off. In Manual Mode, the unit will maintain a constant volume set by the Volume Up/Down Buttons.
Note: When setting the volume in Adaptive Mode, you are actually setting the maximum volume it can reach when it detects a loud noise. If the sound seems too low when it is quiet in your room, turn the volume up to a higher base level.
