To install the LANCHEZ QSB-JH-1000BK 1.6-HP Submersible Sump Pump, follow these steps:
1. Choose a location for the pump that is on a level solid foundation and where it can rest securely. Do not suspend the pump using the discharge pipe or power cord.
2. Make sure the pump inlet screen is clear of any debris.
3. If using a garden hose, install the adapter provided with the pump. The hose should be 3/4" or larger in diameter and kept as short as possible to minimize friction.
4. If using rigid pipe, use a plastic pipe and wrap the threads with Teflon tape.
5. Connect the pump to a power source that conforms to the requirements of the pump. The pump is designed for 115V, 60Hz operation and requires an individual branch circuit of 15 amperes or more capacity. Use a 3-wire extension cord of at least 18 AWG size, with larger sizes for runs over 25 ft.
6. Ensure that the pump is electrically grounded to a suitable electrical ground, such as a grounded water pipe or a properly grounded metallic raceway. Do not cut off the round grounding prong.
7. Once the pump is installed, it should be standing in at least 155mm (6 inches) of water before starting it. The shaft seal is water-lubricated and may be damaged if the pump runs dry.
