To set up the AcuRite 00829 Weather Forecast Station, follow these steps:
1. Unpack the contents of the package, including the display unit, outdoor sensor, and instruction manual.
2. Remove the protective film from the LCD screen of the display unit by locating the tab and peeling it off.
3. Set the A-B-C switch on both the outdoor sensor and the display unit to the same letter (A, B, or C) to ensure synchronization.
4. Install or replace the batteries in the outdoor sensor by sliding off the battery compartment cover and inserting 2 x AA batteries with the correct polarity. Use lithium batteries in low-temperature conditions below -4ºF / -20ºC.
5. Install or replace the batteries in the display unit by removing the battery compartment cover and inserting 3 x AA alkaline batteries with the correct polarity.
6. Set the time, date, and units on the display unit by pressing the " " button to enter SET MODE. Use the " " and " " buttons to adjust the currently selected item, and press the " " button to save the adjustments and move to the next preference. The preference set order is as follows: TIME ZONE, DST (Daylight Saving Time), CLOCK HOUR, CLOCK MINUTE, CALENDAR MONTH, CALENDAR DATE, CALENDAR YEAR, TEMPERATURE UNITS, PRESSURE UNITS.
7. Place the display unit in a dry area free of dirt and dust. It can be used on a tabletop with the included stand or wall-mounted.
8. Place the outdoor sensor outside in an area protected from direct weather elements. Hang it using the integrated hang holes or hanger, or use string to hang it from a suitable location like a well-covered tree branch. The best location is 4 to 8 feet above the ground with permanent shade and plenty of fresh air circulation.
9. Ensure that the display unit and outdoor sensor are within 330 ft (100 m) of each other for wireless communication.
10. Wait for the sensor and display unit to synchronize, which may take a few minutes. Refer to the troubleshooting section of the manual if any issues arise.
