To measure voltage using the Hiltex DT830B Digital Multimeter, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the multimeter is properly set up and the 9V battery is inserted correctly.
2. Connect the red test lead to the "VΩmA" jack and the black test lead to the "COM" jack on the multimeter.
3. Turn the rotary switch to the "V~" or "V=" position, depending on whether you want to measure AC or DC voltage.
4. Select the appropriate range setting for the voltage you expect to measure. Start with the highest range and gradually decrease it until you get a suitable reading.
5. Connect the red test lead to the positive terminal of the circuit or component you want to measure and the black test lead to the negative terminal.
6. Read the voltage measurement displayed on the LCD screen. Make sure to note the unit of measurement (V for volts).
7. After taking the measurement, disconnect the test leads from the circuit or component.
