- Brake Switch: Make sure the brake is fully engaged and the brake switch is functioning. A faulty brake switch can prevent starting.
- Blade/PTO Switch: The blades or PTO should be disengaged. A faulty switch here can also prevent the engine from starting.
- Battery Connections: Double-check that the battery connections are clean and secure.
- Solenoid Connections: Ensure that the wires connected to the solenoid are tight and free of corrosion.
- Ground Connections: Verify that all ground connections are secure and free of rust or corrosion.
- Bypass the Starter Solenoid: Use a jumper wire to bypass the starter solenoid to see if the starter motor turns over. This helps determine if the solenoid is the issue.
