Before installing the Amazon Smart Thermostat, it is important to be comfortable handling electrical wiring. If you are not, it is recommended to hire a professional for installation. Here are the steps to install the thermostat:
1. Turn off power to your heating and cooling system at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
2. Verify that the power is off.
3. Make sure you have a C-wire or C-wire power adapter. Check amazon.com/smartthermostat to see if you need one.
4. Connect the wires from your HVAC system to the corresponding terminals on the thermostat. Make sure to follow the wiring labels provided or take a picture of your wiring for reference.
5. If you are using a C-wire adapter, follow the included instructions to connect the C and K terminals to the thermostat.
6. Mount the thermostat on the wall using the provided screws and wall anchors.
7. Turn on power to your heating and cooling system at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
