To install the Ring Doorbell Wired, follow these steps:
1. Find your doorbell chime: Ring your existing doorbell and listen for the chime to ensure your existing doorbell system is working. Make a mental note of the chime's location.
2. Turn off power at the breaker: This is crucial for safety. If you're unsure which breaker controls your doorbell chime, turn off the master breaker for your home or consult an electrician.
3. Grab the included Jumper Cable: This cable bypasses and disables your existing doorbell chime. Install it before installing your Ring Doorbell. The Doorbell Wired is compatible with doorbell systems supplying 10–24 volts AC, at 50 or 60Hz, 40VA max.
4. Remove the cover from your doorbell chime: After turning off power, remove the cover from your chime and set it aside.
5. Loosen the "Front" and "Trans" terminal screws: Keep the existing doorbell wires in place and loosen these screws.
6. Connect the Jumper Cable: Connect one end of the Jumper Cable to the "Front" terminal and the other end to the "Trans" terminal. It doesn't matter which wire connects to which terminal. Tighten the terminal screws.
7. Uninstall your existing doorbell button: Remove your doorbell from the wall and disconnect the wires, ensuring they don't fall back inside the wall.
8. Remove the faceplate: Grasp the bottom of the faceplate and pull to remove it.
9. Mark the xxxx holes: Use your Ring Doorbell as a template to mark the location of the two mounting holes on your wall.
10. Install the anchors (optional): If mounting on stucco, brick, or concrete, use a ¼" masonry bit to drill holes and insert the included wall anchors. Skip this step if installing on wood or siding.
11. Connect the doorbell wires: Loop one doorbell wire around each of the xxxx terminals on the rear of your Ring Doorbell, then tighten the terminals to secure.
12. xxxx in your Ring Doorbell: Mount your Ring Doorbell using the two included mounting screws. Ensure any excess wiring is fed back into the wall.
13. Restore power at the breaker: It may take a moment for your Ring Doorbell to power on. Once it lights up and speaks to you, it's ready.
14. Download the Ring App: Search for "Ring" in your app store or visit ring.com/app to download the Ring App.
15. Set up your Ring Doorbell: In the Ring App, select "Set Up a Device" and follow the in-app instructions.
