To set up and place the Telstra Wi-Fi Booster, follow these steps:
1. Place the Wi-Fi Booster close to your Modem: This is important for pairing the units before moving the Booster to the low Wi-Fi area in your home.
2. Check that you have the necessary equipment: Ensure you have the Wi-Fi Booster, power adapter, and yellow-ended cable. If your modem is not the Telstra Gen 2 Smart Modem or DJA0230, contact Telstra for assistance.
3. Connect the yellow-ended cable: Insert one yellow end of the cable into the yellow port at the back of the Wi-Fi Booster. Insert the other yellow end into any of the yellow ports on the back of the Modem.
4. Power up the Wi-Fi Booster: Plug the Booster power adapter into a power point and switch it on. Check for a light showing on the front of the Wi-Fi Booster. If there is no light, press the power button on the lower back corner of the unit.
5. Wait for the pairing process to complete: The light on the front of the unit will change color during the process. It will pulse between purple and blue when starting up and turn solid blue after 3 minutes. Wait an additional 2 minutes after the solid blue light appears to ensure the pairing process is complete.
6. Get ready to move: The Wi-Fi Booster is now paired and ready to be moved to its new location in your home.
7. Unplug the Wi-Fi Booster power adapter: Detach the yellow-ended cable from both units. Store the cable safely for future use.
8. Move the Wi-Fi Booster to its new location: Place the Wi-Fi Booster where the Wi-Fi signal is low.
9. Plug the Wi-Fi Booster into a power point and switch it on: Watch the light on the front of the unit. It should pulse between purple and blue and then settle to a solid blue light within 3 minutes. If the light shows amber and not solid blue, it means the Wi-Fi Booster is too far away from the Modem. Move it closer until you get a solid blue light.
10. Troubleshooting Tips: The manual provides information on the different light colors and their meanings. Solid blue indicates a successful setup, purple indicates software updating or starting up, amber indicates a poor signal, red indicates no connection to the Modem, and no light indicates no power source or the unit is not switched on. Refer to the Troubleshooting page for further assistance.
