To activate the Xfinity XFi WiFi Extender Gateway, follow these steps:
1. Place your Gateway: Choose a central location near a cable outlet for your Gateway. Ensure that it is at least 3 feet from the ground and away from any obstructions that may block the WiFi signal.
2. Plugin: Connect the coax cable and power cord to your Gateway. Connect the coax cable to the cable outlet and plug the power cord into an electrical outlet without a dimmer or wall switch. If you have Xfinity Voice, connect your telephone to the Tel 1 connection on the Gateway using a telephone cord.
3. Connect: Access the WiFi settings on your personal device and select the Network Name (SSID) from your Gateway. Join the network using the password provided on the bottom of your Gateway. If prompted for a Pl N, select "Connect Using a Security Key" and enter the same password.
4. Connect with Ethernet (optional): If you prefer an Ethernet connection, plug one end of the provided Ethernet cable into an Ethernet port on your Gateway and the other end into the port on your computer. The LEDs next to the Ethernet ports on your Gateway should light up if the connection is successful.
5. Activate: If you're not automatically directed to a setup screen, open a web browser and go to register.xfinity.com. Follow the steps to verify your account and set up your WiFi network. Once setup is complete, go to WiFi settings on your device, select your personalized WiFi name, and join using your password. If you're using a Battery Backup, refer to the steps in that guide after your Gateway is activated.
