Descaling the Keurig 2.0 Brewing System is an important maintenance task that helps remove mineral buildup and ensures optimal performance of the machine. The frequency of descaling depends on the mineral content of your water, but it is generally recommended to descale every 3-6 months.
To descale the Keurig 2.0 Brewing System, you can follow these steps:
1. Empty the water reservoir and remove any remaining water filters.
2. Mix a descaling solution according to the instructions provided with the descaling product. You can use Keurig Descaling Solution or a similar descaling solution.
3. Pour the descaling solution into the water reservoir.
4. Place a large mug or container on the drip tray to catch the descaling solution.
5. Start the brew cycle without inserting a K-Cup pod. Select the largest cup size (12 oz.) and brew the solution into the mug or container.
6. Repeat the brew cycle until the water reservoir is empty.
7. Let the Keurig 2.0 Brewing System sit for about 30 minutes with the power on.
8. Rinse the water reservoir thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
9. Run multiple brew cycles with fresh water to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
10. Once the water reservoir is empty, the descaling process is complete.
