To descale your Keurig K-Elite coffee maker, follow the descaling procedure outlined in the user manual. Here are the steps:
1. Before you begin, gather a large ceramic mug, fresh water, Keurig Descaling Solution, and access to a sink. Do not use a paper cup.
2. Press the power button to turn off the brewer.
3. Empty the water reservoir. If you have a Keurig Water Filter, remove and set it aside.
4. Pour the entire bottle of Keurig Descaling Solution into the empty water reservoir. Then, fill the empty bottle with water and pour it into the water reservoir.
5. Press the power button to turn the brewer back on.
6. Place a large mug on the drip tray and run a rinsing brew by selecting the hot water button and choosing the largest brew size.
7. Repeat the rinsing brew process until the "add water" light is illuminated. Do not use a K-Cup pod.
8. Let the brewer stand for at least 30 minutes while still on.
9. After 30 minutes, discard any residual solution from the water reservoir and rinse it thoroughly.
10. Fill the water reservoir with fresh water up to the MAX fill line.
11. Place a large mug on the drip tray and run a rinsing brew using the largest brew size. Do not use a K-Cup pod. Pour the contents of the mug into the sink.
12. Repeat the brew process until you have completed at least 12 rinsing brews using the largest brew size. You may need to refill the water reservoir at least once during this process.
Note: During the descaling process, you may notice foam being dispensed from the brewer. This is normal as the solution reacts with the scale inside. If your brewer is heavily scaled, it may not fill properly after adding the descaler. In this case, turn off and unplug the brewer, discard the descaling solution, rinse the water reservoir, and refill it with fresh water. Plug the brewer back in, power it on, and repeat the rinsing brew process.
Regular descaling every 3-6 months helps maintain the performance of your Keurig K-Elite coffee maker and ensures the longevity of its internal parts.
