Cleaning the Hamilton Beach 2-Way FlexBrew Coffee Maker is important for maintaining its performance and ensuring the best-tasting coffee. Here are the instructions for cleaning the coffee maker:
1. Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool.
2. Hand wash all removable parts, such as the carafe, brew basket, and single-serve pack holder, in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry them thoroughly. You can also wash these parts in the top rack of a dishwasher, but do not use the "SANI" setting.
3. Wipe the outside of the coffee maker with a soft damp cloth.
4. If the piercing needle in the lid or the needle holder becomes clogged, remove the gray removable needle holder and clean the piercing needle using a small paper clip. Insert the tip of the paper clip through the hole of the piercing needle and up into the shaft of the needle to remove any grounds.
5. For routine cleaning, it is recommended to clean the coffee maker at least once a month (or once a week for areas with hard water). To clean the carafe side, plug the coffee maker into an outlet and press the carafe button. Pour 1 pint (2 cups) of plain white vinegar into the carafe water reservoir and place the carafe underneath to catch the vinegar. Press the BREW NOW I/O button once, wait for 30 seconds, and then press the button again to stop the brewing. After 30 minutes, press the BREW NOW I/O button to finish the brew cycle. Empty the carafe and rinse it. Run 2 to 3 cycles of cold tap water to remove any vinegar residue.
6. To clean the single-serve side, plug the coffee maker into an outlet and press the single-serve button. Pour 1 cup of plain white vinegar into the single-serve water reservoir and place a cup or travel mug underneath to catch the vinegar. Press the BREW NOW I/O button once, wait for the solution to start dispensing, and then press the button again to stop the brewing. After 30 minutes, press the BREW NOW I/O button to finish the brew cycle. Empty the cup or travel mug and rinse it. Run 2 to 3 cycles of cold tap water to remove any vinegar residue.
7. After cleaning, unplug the coffee maker and allow it to dry completely before using it again.
It is important to follow these cleaning instructions regularly to keep your coffee maker in optimal condition and ensure the best coffee flavor.
