To set up your Moultrie A-Series game camera, please follow these steps:
1. Battery Installation: Open the camera cover and install 8 AA Alkaline or Lithium batteries. Make sure the (+ and -) polarities match the polarities indicated inside the battery chamber. Note: Always turn the camera off when loading or unloading batteries.
2. Insert SD Card: Open the front cover and insert an SD memory card (up to 32 GB, not included) in the direction indicated on the card until you hear an audible click. Note: The camera will not operate without an SD memory card installed. Ultra/turbo SD cards are not recommended.
3. Power ON: Slide the Mode Switch to the Setup position. The battery level will appear on the LCD Display, indicating that the camera has powered up.
4. Mounting with a Strap: Close the cover and mount the camera on a tree or pole approximately 3 ft. high. Thread the mounting strap through the slots on the back of the camera and secure it. It is recommended to face the camera down the trail tilted at a slight downward angle and clear brush away from the camera front to avoid false triggers.
5. Camera Setup: Slide the power switch to the ON position. The camera will display the countdown and then enter the Setup mode. Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to navigate through the settings. The motion sensor will detect movement and illuminate the STATUS LED on the front of the camera for ~1 second to help you aim the camera properly.
6. Setting Time and Date: While in Setup mode, the LCD display will show the time. Press the OK button to select and adjust the time, year, month, and day using the UP/Down buttons. Press OK to lock in each selection and move to the next.
7. Detection Delay Setting: Press the OK button to select and adjust the detection delay, which determines the number of minutes between pictures when an animal is detected and remains in range. Choose between 0, 15 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, or 5 min using the UP/Down buttons. Press OK to lock in your selection and move to the next setting.
8. Setting Capture Mode: Use the UP/Down buttons to choose between 5 different modes: 1 Photo/Low Resolution, 1 Photo/High Resolution, 3 Photos/Low Resolution, 3 Photos/High Resolution, and High/Low Video. Press OK to lock in your selection and move to the next setting.
9. Setting Camera ID: Use the UP/Down buttons to choose a number (1-9) to help identify your camera. Press OK to lock in your selection and move to the next setting.
10. Reset Picture Count/Erase Images/Format Card: You can reset the picture count and erase all images stored on the SD card. Use the UP/Down buttons to choose between Yes or No. Press the OK button to confirm the selection. Note: This will also format your SD card for use in your camera.
