To set up the T-Mobile KVD21 5G Home Internet Gateway, follow these steps:
1. Identify an ideal location for your gateway. Choose a location near a window with strong signal strength, away from walls or obstructions, heavy-duty appliances, and metal fixtures. It should also be near a power outlet and on an upper floor or at least 6 feet off the floor.
2. Connect power to the gateway. Place the gateway on a flat surface near a window and an electrical outlet. Connect the USB Type-C power cable to the Power port on the gateway and plug the other end into a grounded electrical outlet. Make sure the power cable supports 100-240V AC, 50-60Hz, and 3A at DC 15V.
3. Start the gateway. After connecting the power, the LCD screen will display an animated T-Mobile logo, indicating that the gateway is starting up. Wait for the startup sequence to complete.
4. Connect devices to the gateway. You can connect devices to the gateway using Wi-Fi or Ethernet. To connect wirelessly, use the Wi-Fi SSID (Wi-Fi name) and Wi-Fi Key (Wi-Fi password) found on the gateway's rear panel. To connect via Ethernet, use an Ethernet cable to connect devices without Wi-Fi capabilities.
5. Access the web GUI. Ensure your device's Local Area Connection setting is configured to obtain an IP address automatically. Open a web browser and enter http://192.168.12.1. If you can't access the GUI, contact customer support.
6. Set up Wi-Fi networks (optional). You can manage and configure Wi-Fi settings on the gateway's web GUI. The Wi-Fi Networks screen allows you to create separate networks for different devices or use the combined/automatic option for the best Wi-Fi connection.
