Descaling your Mr. Coffee Espresso Machine is an important maintenance task that helps remove mineral deposits and build-up that can affect the taste of your coffee. Here's how you can descale your machine:
1. Ensure that the water tank is empty and remove any attachments or filters from the machine.
2. In an empty water tank, add 1 1/2 tablespoons of white vinegar and 4 cups of water. Mix the solution thoroughly.
3. Place the water tank back into position.
4. Insert the brew basket into the machine without any coffee in it.
5. Place the coffee pot on the drip tray cover.
6. Turn on the machine and turn the xxxx to the "brew" position.
7. Press the clean button. The clean indicator light will turn on.
8. The machine will go through a 2-minute clean cycle, during which the vinegar solution will run through the machine to remove any build-up.
9. When the clean indicator light turns off, turn the xxxx to the "standby" position.
10. Discard the water in the coffee pot.
11. Rinse the water tank, brew basket, brew basket lid, and coffee pot with warm water and mild liquid soap to remove any vinegar residue.
Descaling frequency may vary depending on the hardness of your water and the frequency of use. It is generally recommended to descale your espresso machine every 4-6 months. However, if you notice a significant decrease in the taste or performance of your machine, you may need to descale it more frequently.
