Cleaning your Keurig K-Express Essentials K-Cup Pod Coffee Maker is essential for its proper functioning. Here are the steps to clean your coffee maker:
1. Regular Cleaning:
- Turn off and unplug your coffee maker before cleaning.
- Clean the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp, soapy, lint-free, non-abrasive cloth. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or other liquids.
- Clean the drip tray overflow occasionally by lifting it off the coffee maker base, rinsing it, and cleaning it with a damp, soapy, lint-free, non-abrasive cloth. Hand wash only.
- Periodically clean the water reservoir by wiping the inside with a damp, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth. Do not dry the inside with a cloth as lint may remain. Allow the reservoir to dry completely. Hand wash only.
2. K-Cup Pod Holder Assembly Cleaning:
- To remove the K-Cup pod holder from the coffee maker, lift the handle and grasp the top of the holder with one hand while pushing up on the bottom from underneath until it releases.
- Clean the exit needle on the inside bottom of the pod holder by inserting a straightened paper clip into it to loosen any coffee grounds.
- Clean the entrance needle on the underside of the lid by inserting a straightened paper clip into all the holes and gently moving it around to loosen any coffee grounds.
- Wash the funnel regularly by removing it from the pod holder and snapping it back into place after cleaning.
3. Descaling:
- Descaling your coffee maker is important to remove mineral buildup and maintain its long-term health.
- Follow the descaling procedure outlined in the user guide using Keurig Descaling Solution, a large ceramic mug, fresh water, and access to a sink.
- The descaling procedure takes approximately 20 minutes and involves pouring the descaling solution into the water reservoir, brewing it, rinsing with fresh water, and repeating the process until the descale notification turns off.
Remember to follow the recommended maintenance schedule, including descaling every three months and replacing the Keurig Water Filters every two months, to ensure great-tasting coffee and optimal performance.
